Well, January and February for our family has been one basketball game after another! Caleb is playing on a Competition league and on the Teacher's team at church. He is really missing having Matt coach his team, but he's doing great and having a good season.
Basketball is in the Young blood, so on one January Saturday, Brig and I drove 2 1/2 hours to Wells, Nevada, to watch one of the Austin High School games. We not only got to see Jonathan and Danny Young coach the Austin boys' basketball team, but we got to see Ammon Young playing on that team. We also watched 3 of our neices (Chelsea, Alison, and Brittaney) play on the girls' team. It was a fun day. We really enjoyed seeing "old" Austin friends and visiting with our nieces and nephews.
We had our annual family Valentine's dinner on February 12. It was fun, but we missed having Matt, McKenzie, and Nate here for it. We took pictures of Brig and Caleb holding signs and candy for Matt. We're sending him lots of Laffy Taffy (his favorite) because Matt says they don't sell it in Aussieland. $42 to send $20 of candy. Now - that's love! The party was early as Brig left on Feb 13th to drive to St. George to attend his sister Phyllis' sealing to her husband. He drove down with Var and Janet and Dorothy and Dennis. I stayed at home to be Mom, as Anna had a Valentine's dance. Brig and the crew returned after midnight on the 14th, and Var and Janet spent the night and then attended Church with us. It was great to visit with them again. They've invited us up to Idaho to go 4-wheeling, and Brig is ready to go!!
Brigham S. began working for Skywest Airlines in January and seems to like it. He's definately excited for those free flights everywhere!
Anna began taking a CNA class at Davis Applied Technology College. She is loving it and is never squeamish about blood and guts. She was surprised one day when a blind nurse came to talk to the class, and she turned out to be one of Anna's former Primary teachers that Anna really loved. Also - Anna is taking more sign language at High School - this is her second semester. She's come into Primary to help me teach new songs to the kids using signs. It was fun, but I'm WAY slow in the memory department, and it takes forever to remember the signs! (The kids love it, though.)
McKenzie and Nate are getting ready to close on their first home. We're really looking forward to going and seeing them, their home, and the Richmond area. We only wish Richmond were a LOT closer!!
Matt is about half an hour away from the Melbourne fires. He says that they had to evacuate the missionaries on the Eastern side of the city, but he hasn't been evacuated yet. He says that, in the mornings, the smoke is so thick that it's hard to see - until the ocean breezes come and blow the smoke away.
